Free cheque register: every cheque in and out, and when it clears
Write each cheque once, the ones customers give you and the ones you give suppliers. The register shows cheques due in the next 7 days, post-dated cheques, money still in cheques that have not cleared, and bounced cheques. Mark a cheque deposited or cleared with one tap; if it bounces, the bills it paid become due again by themselves. Free, no login, and it stays in this browser.
How to use the cheque register
- Add your business once. Your name, address and state are typed once in My data, and your customers and suppliers are kept there too.
- Record a cheque you received. Tap "Cheque received". Pick the customer, the amount, the cheque no., the cheque date and the bank of the cheque, and tick the bills it pays. A post-dated cheque gets the date written on it.
- Record a cheque you gave. Tap "Cheque given" and fill in the supplier, amount, cheque no. and cheque date. The bills it pays are ticked the same way.
- Update the status. A received cheque starts as "Received, not deposited". Tap "Deposited" when it goes to the bank and "Cleared" when the money arrives. A cheque you gave stays "Given, not cleared" until you mark it cleared.
- If a cheque bounces. Tap "Bounced". The payment is taken out of the books and the bills it paid are due again, in Dues and in the party statement. Add the bank charge as an expense.
- Watch the dates. "Cheques due in the next 7 days" lists post-dated cheques to deposit and your own cheques that will reach the bank soon, so you keep money in the account.
What it does for you
- Cheques in and out: one list of every cheque received and given, with cheque no., bank, date and status.
- Post-dated cheques: marked with their date, counted separately and listed when they fall due.
- Not counted until cleared: a cheque that has not cleared is not shown as money in the bank; it is shown as "Cheques not yet cleared".
- Bounced cheques: the payment is reversed and the bills it paid become due again, so the party balance is right.
- Filters and search: all, post-dated, not cleared, cleared and bounced; search by party, cheque no. or bank.
- Same data as the app: it is the cheque part of the free Nivesh Sahayak App, so receipts, vouchers, the bank book and party balances use the same entries.
One set of books, many doors
Cheques is one part of the free Nivesh Sahayak App. Everything you enter here is kept in this browser on this device, in the same data home as the app and every Nivesh Sahayak document maker (my.niveshsahayak.in). Bills made on the billing site show up here by themselves, and entries made here show up in the app. There is no account and nothing is uploaded to us.

Questions people ask
Is this cheque register really free?
Yes. There is no login, no fee and no limit on cheques. It runs in your browser and your data stays on your device.
Does it print cheques?
No. It keeps the record of cheques you receive and give. Write the cheque by hand or with your bank’s cheque printing, then record it here.
Why is a cheque I received not in my bank balance?
Until you mark it "Cleared" it is still on its way, so it is shown under "Cheques not yet cleared" and not as money in the bank. The bill it pays is already shown as paid.
What happens when I mark a cheque bounced?
The payment is taken out of the books and the bills it paid become due again, so the customer or supplier balance is right. Add the bank’s return charge as an expense.
Can I record post-dated cheques?
Yes. Put the date written on the cheque in "Cheque date". It is marked post-dated and shows in "Cheques due in the next 7 days" before that date.
Does it work offline and on a phone?
Yes. After the page has opened once it works without internet, and you can add it to your phone’s home screen from the browser menu.
